Description

To proceed with the migration from RP6 to eLux 7, please ensure that you are using the default container names

  • UC_RP6_X64 for RP6
  • UC_ELUX7 for eLux 7

All necessary packages must be imported into their respective containers. In this setup, as a Scout administrator, you can use the CONTAINER macro path to simplify the migration into one step from the Scout side. The device will automatically perform two steps:

  • Install RP6 with the migration enablement package
  • Proceed with the migration to eLux 7

Let’s assume that your devices are running one of the following RP6 versions:
2302 LTSR, 2209 CR, 2104 LTSR CU3, or 2104 LTSR CU4. If your current version is different, please let me know and I will send you additional steps.

Steps to Follow:
In the UC_RP6_X64 container:

  • Create an .idf file that includes the migration enablement package (available on myelux.com).
  • Save this .idf file with a name of your choice, but ensure you use the same name when creating the eLux 7 image.

In the UC_ELUX7 container:

  • Create the eLux 7 image to which you want to migrate.
  • Name it identically to the RP6 image from step 1.

Ensure the following files are available in the UC_ELUX7 container:

  • migrationfiles-<version>.tar.gz
  • migration-system-<version>.idf
  • recovery_systemEFI.rdf

In Scout (under Device configuration - Firmware tab ):

  • Set the image name (same for both RP6 and eLux 7 images).
  • For the path, enter (replace the container name with __CONTAINER__, for e.x.):
    eluxng/__CONTAINER__
    image.png

Send the update to the device – the migration should start automatically.

Note: In order to migrate to eLux 7, RP 6 must be installed in UEFI mode, as eLux 7 supports only UEFI-based installations.

Important Note on Disk Partition Encryption option:

  • If disk partition encryption is already in use on the devices:
Enable the disk Partition Encryption .fpm under the BaseOS .epm to avoid the long process of disk re-encryption.
  • If disk partition encryption is not in use:
Disable the Partition Encryption .fpm in both RP6 and eLux 7 images to maintain consistency.
  • Disable Partition Encryption .fpm in migration-system-7.xxx.idf

Issue/Introduction

The migration from eLux RP 6 to eLux 7 can be carried out easily via a firmware update. Below you will find details on the requirements and the procedure.
