4. Is App Protection supported by License Activation Service?
5. My CVAD deployment uses file-based licensing. What are the steps to transition to LAS?
See detailed steps for LAS activation in the product documentation.
6. My CVAD deployment is on perpetual licenses. Is this supported with LAS?
Perpetual license deployments with active maintenance are supported with LAS. The steps to transition to LAS are similar to any other license types.
7. Which components in my CVAD deployment need upgrading to transition to LAS?
Licensing is handled at the control plane level and does not affect workloads (VDAs). To transition to LAS, upgrade the control plane infrastructure to a LAS-compatible release. VDAs may remain on earlier versions; however, software fixes are only provided for actively supported VDA versions.
8. Can I revert back to file‑based licensing after enabling LAS?
Yes. Admins may temporarily disable LAS (e.g. for change control testing) using supported PowerShell methods. These mechanisms will be available untill April 2026. After the deadline, file-based licensing will be no longer valid. The powershell command to revert a DDC to file-based licensing is as below:
Set-ConfigSite -UseLicenseActivationService $false
9. Do I need to reactivate LAS after re-registering the License Server?
No. If a customer unregisters and then re-registers a LAS‑registered License Server that already has enabled products (such as CVAD and PVS), no manual reactivation is required in Studio or in the PVS Configuration Wizard. Studio identifies the License Server using its IP address/hostname and certificate hash. Since these do not change during re-registration, Studio continues to recognize the License Server without any additional action.
