Description

  • Issue: POS printers may experience sudden stoppages due to parity errors or show a "Break" message. Rebooting does not always fix the issue, as the COM port initialization during eLux startup causes the error to persist.

  • Solution: To prevent eLux from initializing the COM port, disable it by adding a parameter to the configuration file for cash register Organizational Units (OUs).

  • Steps to Disable COM Port Initialization:

    1. Edit the terminal.ini file:

      • File: /setup/terminal.ini

      • Section: Global

      • Parameter: ComSettings

      • Value: false

    2. Save the changes to the terminal.ini file.

    3. Apply the configuration to the relevant cash register OU.

    4. Restart the device to ensure the new configuration takes effect.

  • Notes: Deactivating COM port initialization on eLux via the terminal.ini file helps resolve persistent POS printer parity errors and prevents further interruptions in printer functionality.

Issue/Introduction

POS printers may stop working due to parity errors or display a "Break" message. Rebooting the device may not resolve the issue because the COM port is initialized during eLux system startup. Disabling COM port initialization in the configuration file can prevent these errors.
