In newer versions of Citrix Workspace App, the application now respects the “Enable pointer shadow” setting found in the Mouse Properties of the VDA. Previously, this setting was ignored, preventing the shadow effect from appearing. The issue has been observed across various operating systems, including Ubuntu, and may cause visual distraction for users.
The shadow effect is caused by the “Enable pointer shadow” setting being active in the VDA. Newer versions of CWA now honor this setting, unlike earlier versions that ignored it by default.
To remove the black shadow under the mouse pointer:
Access Mouse Settings on the VDA :
Navigate to: VDA > Settings > Devices > Mouse > Additional Mouse Options
Modify Pointer Settings :
Go to the Pointers tab
Uncheck the box for Enable pointer shadow
Apply Changes : Save the settings to remove the shadow effect.
Contact Citrix Support (if needed) : If the issue persists or requires further investigation, submit a support ticket to Citrix.
A black shadow may appear beneath the mouse pointer during Citrix Workspace App (CWA) sessions. This visual issue is linked to the pointer shadow setting on the Virtual Desktop Agent (VDA) and can be resolved by disabling it.
