Users connect to a published virtual desktop environment and launch an application that uses Google Chrome for real-time communication functionality. Google Chrome is configured as the default browser within the virtual desktop session.
When users initiate an audio/video communication session and grant microphone access permissions to Chrome, the active Citrix desktop session unexpectedly disconnects. It is observed not only with the integrated application but also when using standard Google Meet sessions within the published desktop.
The behavior occurs specifically when Chrome attempts to access the microphone device, resulting in an unexpected termination/disconnection of the active virtual desktop session.
This issue was identified as a known issue with Google Chrome version 137, where enabling microphone access for real-time communication applications (such as Google Meet) inside a Citrix published desktop could trigger an unexpected virtual desktop session disconnect.
The issue occurs when Chrome processes microphone access requests within the VDI session, resulting in abnormal session termination/disconnection. The behavior is specific to the affected Chrome versions and is not caused by Citrix configuration.
Check the installed Google Chrome version
Upgrade Google Chrome
Validate Chrome microphone permissions
Confirm session stability
After upgrading Google Chrome from an affected version (earlier than 137) to version 141, the desktop session disconnect issue no longer occurs when users enable microphone acces
In a Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD) 2503 environment where Google Chrome is configured as the default browser, users experience an unexpected desktop session disconnection when enabling microphone access in Chrome and occurs whenever Chrome attempts to access the microphone.
The same behavior is observed during Google Meet sessions launched within the published desktop, where granting microphone permissions results in an immediate session disconnect.
