Description

PVS BIOS target devices created using Citrix Web Studio were not created as expected:

  • The identity disk attached to the PVS target was incorrectly configured.
  • The write cache disk was not formatted and the target device booted to server-side cache.

Cause

Studio creation of PVS targets was introduced first in Citrix Web Studio 2311 and later, and supports creation of UEFI based machines only.

  • BIOS based PVS target device creation is deprecated in all supported PVS versions now, and all future PVS releases.
  • As BIOS based booting was deprecated in PVS 2203, BIOS based target device creation issues are not valid for in-depth investigations with Citrix technical support.
  • There will be no future updates to BIOS based target device creation.

Resolution

Only UEFI based PVS target device creation is now supported.

  • Customers must switch to UEFI based vdisks and target devices.
  • Support for all BIOS based target device creation has been deprecated since PVS 2203 release.
  • BIOS based target device creation issues are not valid for in-depth investigations with Citrix technical support.

Issue/Introduction

Customers must switch to UEFI based vdisks and target devices and stop using BIOS based vdisks and target devices.
