When installing "Secure Private Access" (SPA) through CVAD setup wizard, the wizard shows the SPA installation has been successfully done, but the SPA initialization failed.
A error dialog is prompted saying,Configuration tool 'C:\Program Files\Citrix\Citrix Access Security\Runtime\RuntimeConfigTool\RuntimeConfigTool.exe' failed to initialize. Error code 1.
-or-
Configuration tool 'C:\Program Files\Citrix\Citrix Access Security\Admin\AdminConfigTool\AdminConfigTool.exe' failed to initialize. Error code 1.
During "Secure Private Access" initialization, both Citrix RuntimeConfigTool.exe and AdminConfigTool.exe failed to access the named pipe '\PIPE\winreg' with error NAME NOT FOUND. That resulted in the SPA folders permission update failure, which is eventually populated to the installation wizard with the error dialog.
'\PIPE\winreg' is a well-known named pipe in Windows OS, depending on Windows "Remote Registry" service. Once the service is disabled, the named pipe will be unavailable.
Please ensure Windows "Remote Registry" service is enabled and started before the "Secure Private Access" installation.
The article describes a "Secure Private Access" installation failure caused by an environmental factor.
