Wem Agent fails to start - in the event log we see the error: Event id 0 - Agent host Service Initialization Failed
Resolution
Rebuild the windows performance counters on the affected server by executing these commands from a command prompt as administrator
cd c:\windows\system32
lodctr /R
cd c:\windows\sysWOW64
lodctr /R
Then enter the following command to resync the counters with Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI):
WINMGMT.EXE /RESYNCPERF
cd c:\windows\system32
lodctr /R
cd c:\windows\sysWOW64
lodctr /R
Then enter the following command to resync the counters with Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI):
WINMGMT.EXE /RESYNCPERF
Problem Cause
Windows Perfromance counters need to be rebuilt.
