Issue Description

Due to recent updates to Google Chrome 139 and Microsoft Edge 139, HTML5 video redirection functionality is impacted. When facing this issue, users cannot play the video and just see grayed out video content.

Resolution

Action Needed

This issue is fixed on VDA releases 2507, 2402 CU3 and 2203 CU7. On these versions, customers can use HTML5 video redirection with Microsoft Edge / Google Chrome 139.

Note: In addition to the VDA upgrade, customers need to use the new HdxVideo.js that is packaged with the VDA releases mentioned above

Known limitations: At this time, there are a few known limitations with the fix

  • When the Chrome window is squeezed, the HTML 5 redirected video goes out of the bounds
  • With new HDXVideo.js, play/pause/sound buttons might not reflect the actual experience in some very specific scenarios.
  • The volume slider is not shown if the video is in windowed mode.

In case, customers cannot upgrade to the VDAs in which the fix is available, Citrix recommends to stay on Microsoft Edge / Google Chrome 138 or earlier to ensure HTML5 video redirection is working properly

Issue/Introduction

After updating Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge to version 139 (which are based off Chromium 139) on a Citrix VDA, HTML5 video redirection feature may stop working correctly.
