Description

There is a known issue affecting the cursor position for single session VDAs in combination with the Microsoft July 2025 Windows patches:

  • Windows 11 24H2: KB5062553
  • Windows 11 23H2: KB5062552
  • Windows 11 22H2: KB5062552
  • Windows 10 22H2: KB5062554

Citrix users may report mouse cursor issues on single session Citrix VDAs after installing the Microsoft July 2025 Windows patches, which could cause erratic mouse behavior and may cause the cursor to jump around randomly.

The issue is most pronounced in environments where there is high latency (+150ms), however the issue is not related to the latency.

This issue only affects single session VDAs running Microsoft Windows 10 and Windows 11, as well as Server VDI installations on Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2022 and Windows Server 2025.

Please note that Server VDI refers to Workstation single session OS VDA installations for server Operating Systems. More information about Server VDI can be found in the Server VDI product documentation: https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/citrix-virtual-apps-desktops/install-configure/server-vdi.html

Multi session VDA is not affected by this issue.

All client platforms are affected, regardless of the endpoint OS used, including CWA for Windows, CWA for MacOS, CWA for Linux and all other client platforms.

Affected VDA versions

  • CVAD 2203 LTSR (when using IDD)*
  • CVAD 2411**
  • CVAD 2402 LTSR
  • CVAD 2503

*CVAD 2203 is only affected if customers have explicitly set the adapter merits to IDD. Citrix is working on the fix.
** Customers running CVAD 2411 or older CR versions are advised to upgrade to 2503 and apply the fix.

Cause

The root cause of the issue is a bug that surfaced when the server mouse capture changed in the July 2025 patches by Microsoft which could cause incorrect mouse positions being reported.

Resolution

Fixes are available for the below VDA versions.

Note: It is recommended to remove any registry workaround provided by technical support before deploying the update.
