This article contains the steps to publish Printers folder.

Publishing the Printers folder provides users with a way of changing the printing preferences of their printers, such as paper size, paper type, duplexing options, and so on. Unlike adjusting such preferences within the print dialog of a published application, changing the preferences in the Printers folder retains the settings in the user profile for future sessions. Publishing the Printers folder is the equivalent of accessing it from a desktop session (though many administrators choose not to publish desktops for security reasons).

Instructions

Complete the appropriate procedure from the following:

For Windows Server 2003, 2008 and 2008 R2

1. Choose the option to publish a new application from the Access Management, Citrix Delivery Services or XenApp Consoles.
2. Use the command line and working directory specified:
   Use iexplore.exe if Internet Explorer 6 is installed on the server and Explorer.exe for Internet Explorer 7.

   Command line: “Path to iexplore.exe or explorer.exe” ::{2227A280-3AEA-1069-A2DE-08002B30309D}

   Examples:
   Internet Explorer 6: “C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe” ::{2227A280-3AEA-1069-A2DE-08002B30309D}
   Internet Explorer 7 and later: “C:\Windows\explorer.exe” ::{2227A280-3AEA-1069-A2DE-08002B30309D}
   Working directory: (blank)
   Note: Explorer must be used with version 7 and above of Internet Explorer because Microsoft has changed the way parameters are passed to the executable. The parameters are handed off to Windows Explorer instead of being handed by Internet Explorer itself.

For Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Only (Alternative)

Choose the option to publish a new application from the XenApp or Citrix Delivery Services Console. Use a command line path of control.exe printers with a blank working directory.

Obtaining the Printers Icon for the Shortcut

To obtain the correct printer icon for the published application, browse to \windows\system32\shell32.dll from the corresponding application Properties dialog and select the icon from the ones displayed.
