Description

Q. What is the role of "Citrix Profile Management" service in logon duration reporting?

Ans. The Citrix Profile Management service is responsible for collecting logon duration data from the Virtual Delivery Agent (VDA). It gathers information about the logon process, including the time taken for various phases such as profile loading, logon scripts execution, and application launched.

  • The service utilizes the Citrix User Profile Manager (UPM) WMI provider to fetch logon timing metrics. If the Profile Management service is not running, the VDA cannot communicate with the WMI provider to retrieve the necessary data for logon duration reporting.
  • When the Citrix Profile Management service is stopped, Citrix Director may show "Null" or missing values for logon duration. This is because the necessary data is not being collected and reported back to the Director .
  • For logon duration to be reported, this service needs to be running even if you are not using User profile management (UPM) as your profile management solution.

  • Ensure that Citrix profile manager is installed and the Citrix profile management service is running for user’s logon duration to be calculated.
