Important Notice: Impact of ShareFile Support changes on Citrix Endpoint Management (CEM) Integration

Citrix Endpoint Management (CEM) offers robust integration with ShareFile, enhancing secure file sharing and collaboration. However, it's crucial to understand that the continued functionality of these integrations is dependent on ShareFile's ongoing support. As and when ShareFile (Now Progress) discontinues support for specific features or the platform itself, the corresponding CEM integrations will be subject to depreciation.

This potential impact affects several key integration points, including but not limited to:

  1. SAML Authentication for ShareFile Users with Citrix Endpoint Management as IDP: This integration allows seamless single sign-on (SSO) for ShareFile users leveraging CEM as their Identity Provider (IDP). If ShareFile ceases support for SAML authentication with external IDPs or changes its authentication mechanisms, this integration will no longer function. Users may experience difficulties accessing ShareFile, and administrators will need to implement alternative authentication methods.

  2. Citrix Files app on iOS and Android with MAM SDK: The Citrix Files app on iOS and Android platforms integrates with the Mobile Application Management (MAM) SDK vault within CEM. The absence of this integration, can cause SSO with Secure Hub to fail. Changes or discontinuation of ShareFile's mobile app integration, or alterations to its authentication protocols, will directly impact the usability of the Citrix Files app within the CEM managed environment. Users may lose the ability to seamlessly access and manage files.

  3. Connector and Storage Zone Integration with CEM: The integration between ShareFile connectors and storage zones with CEM enables secure access to on-premises file shares. Should ShareFile discontinue support for these connectors or modify its storage zone architecture, this integration will be affected. Organizations relying on this functionality will need to migrate to alternative solutions for on-premises file access.

It is imperative for organizations utilizing these CEM-ShareFile integrations to stay informed about any announcements or updates from Citrix regarding ShareFile's support lifecycle. Proactive planning and migration to alternative solutions, when necessary, will be crucial to minimize disruption and maintain secure file-sharing capabilities. We strongly recommend regularly reviewing ShareFile documentation and contacting ShareFile support for the latest information on ShareFile integration support and recommended migration paths.

Note : CEM in this article includes Citrix Endpoint Management in cloud and on-premise XenMobile server solution.
