Description

When using Microsoft Azure and Citrix Machine Creation Services (MCS), the Virtual Machine Object shows as 'Creating' instead of 'Running,' but otherwise registers and can be connected to until it forcibly shuts down.

Resolution

Work-Around:

  • Sometimes power managing the machines through Azure will change the state to Running. It does not fix the underlying issue, but will work-around the issue until new machines are created

Solution:

  • Creating the Master Image with a functional Azure VM Agent will resolve the issue.

Problem Cause

The issue is related to the Azure VM Agent, and its associated functionality. Azure is responsible for allocating the required space for Virtual Machine Object creation and functionality. In the event where an Azure VM Agent is not responding appropriately, it will cause the Virtual Machine object to never switch from a Creating status to a Running status.
