App Layering - Support for VHDX format for User layers

This article describes the supported format (VHD or VHDX) for User layers.
Instructions
Previously, User layers were created using the VHD format.
From App Layering 2309, User layers are now created using the VHDX format instead of the VHD format.
If you still want to create new user layers using VHD format as in the previous release, you can change the behavior by setting the following system registry parameter:

Caution! Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that might require you to reinstall your operating system. Citrix cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. Be sure to back up the registry before you edit it.
