Description

Citrix Machine Catalog capacity is managed by Autoscaling.

The customer noticed more machines are powered on that set by Autoscaling, even though there is low utilization in the environment.

Support teams validated customers autoscaling configuration, and confirmed there was excess load capacity in the machine catalog when additional VDAs were powered on by the broker.

Resolution

The customer removed 3rd party configurations which had applied Microsoft setting DrainingUntilRestart to Autoscale managed VDAs.

Problem Cause

The customer had applied restart policies and scripts to their environment, which then applied Microsoft DrainingUntilRestart to the powered on VDAs. DrainingUntilRestart is not compatible with Autoscaling, and resulted in this behavior.
