Mixed edition means combining Premium with Standard or Advanced editions, or Advanced with Standard editions on the same site. This also applies to mixing license types User/Device (U/D) and Concurrent (CCU); for example Premium U/D with Premium CCU or Advanced U/D with Advanced CCU.
Combining different editions on the same site is not allowed and could result in product issues.
When customers renew or expand the smaller portion of their asset base with Universal Hybrid Multi-Cloud (HMC) or Citrix for Private Cloud (CPC), they get the best edition/type which is Premium with Concurrency; however if the larger portion of their existing licenses is Advanced or Standard or U/D, on renewal they could get into a mixed edition situation.
For example:
This problem is only applicable to Citrix sites with customer or partner-managed Delivery Controllers. Citrix Cloud does not have the same “per site” licensing considerations.
With every upcoming or past renewal of Universal HMC or CPC, we provide an additional “Compatibility” license file that includes all the editions and license types of Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD) and Citrix Virtual Apps (CVA) on-prem as described below. Any customer who would be in a mixed edition scenario can leverage the edition of the product in the Compatibility license file that matches the edition of the majority of their licenses and avoid the issue.
CVAD Compatibility license for HMC:
Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops
Citrix Virtual Apps Standard, Advanced, Premium CCU
Cloud Portability (SaaS Bit)
No Overdraft (10%)
CVAD Compatibility license for CPC:
Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops
CVA Standard, Advanced, Premium CCU
No Cloud Portability (SaaS Bit)
No Overdraft (10%)
If you have already purchased or post-purchased Universal HMC or CPC, this license file will be in your “MyAccount” portal.
Compatibility license requires the customer to follow the same Terms and Conditions as their Universal License HMC or CPC purchase and requires the customer to send telemetry.
