Command-line upgrades to CVAD version 2203 or later will fail if the Delivery Controller cannot connect to the license server. 

Following error is seen in the installation failure log.

The product version you are upgrading to requires an upgraded version of the Citrix License Server.

Resolution

Issue is by design for CVAD 2203 and above versions. License server should be reachable from Delivery controller at the time of upgrade. 


Problem Cause

Starting with version 2203 and above , a design change prevents the command line from ignoring the license server compatibility check. 

Additional Information

The communication port number used by the Desktop Delivery Controller (DDC) to connect to the Citrix License Server is 27000. This port handles the initial point of contact for license requests. Additionally, the DDC also communicates with the License Server on port 8083, which is used for the Simple License Service
