Description
- Users are unable to launch Citrix sessions from a FAS enabled store and observe the error - 'Cannot start desktop'.
- On the StoreFront servers, we observe Event ID: 28 stating - 'Failed to launch the resource 'XXXXXX' using the Citrix XML Service at address '??'. It was not possible to select a Federated Authentication Service. System.ServiceModel.FaultException`- Could not contact any Federated Authentication Servers'.
Resolution
Perform one of the following options:
Option 1: Restart the IIS service (IISRESET) on the StoreFront servers.
Option 2: Reboot the server to recover the services from the faulted state.

Problem Cause
- WCF Service transitioned to a faulted state due to the inter-service communications failing.
- Service goes to faulted state if the underlying channel created by Channel listener transitions into a faulted state.
- Once the service is in faulted state all the client calls will be aborted and no further connection can be made to service, unless service is restarted.
