Description

When attempting to add machines to an existing catalog the process fails immediately with the below error, in Studio.

"Machine Failures:
[domainname\machinename]: Failed to create the virtual machine; [domainname\machinename].

Inner Error:
A general system error occurred:  PBM error occurred during PreCreateCheckCallback: Authentication failed: Invalid credentials"

The failure is isolated to one catalog.

Resolution

  1. Update the certificate in the impacted vCenter following the official VMware guidance, "vSphere Security Certificates"
    1. As needed contact VMware for additional guidance updating the VMware environment
  2. Follow the steps in our article, CTX224551 , to update the Delivery Controller(s)

Problem Cause

The vCenter certificate had expired.
