"The network logon service was not started" when logging onto PVS Target Device via Console

Description

  • When logon PVS Target Device (TD) via console, it throws below error:
"An attempt was made to logon but the network logon service was not started."
 
  • TD VDI is unregistered status in Citrix Studio.

Resolution

  1. Uninstall VDA.
  2. Install VDA and select "Create a master image using Citrix Provisioning or third-party provisioning tools" option.

Problem Cause

  • "Citrix PVS for VMs Agent" service is a component of VDA MCS and should not be installed on PVS.
  • "Netlogon" service depends on "Workstation" service, which depends on "Citrix PVS for VMs Agent" service. 
  • "Citrix PVS for VMs Agent" service is not running, that cause all the dependent services not to boot.
