Similarly, when trying to start the Citrix Credential Wallet service, an error message appears: "Windows could not start the Citrix Credential Wallet service on the local computer. Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed."

The system logs in the Event Viewer contain the following errors:

  • "The Net.Tcp Port Sharing Service service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."
  • "A timeout was reached (60000 milliseconds) while waiting for the Net.Tcp Port Sharing Service service to connect."

Resolution

The .NET Framework 3.5 is a necessary dependency of the Net.Tcp Port Sharing service. If Net.Tcp Port Sharing service failed to start, enabling or re-enabling .NET Framework 3.5 will resolve the issue.

Step 1: Type control panel in the Search bar and click the result to open it.

Step 2: Navigate to Programs > Programs and Features and click Turn Windows features on or off in the left pane.

Step 3: In the pop-up window, tick the box associated with .Net Framework 3.5. You should also make sure its sub-items are selected as well. Click the OK button to save changes and then restart your computer.

Tip: If the .Net Framework 3.5 is already enabled, you might need to disable it and restart the computer. Then, re-enable it according to the above steps.
