Description

We need to provide an explanation from Citrix  about why we should not install unauthorized (not auth by citrix explicitely) 3rd party security programs like McAfee, Crowdstrike, Ivanti on Citrix products we just deployed running your FreeBSD OS images or any other.

Resolution

Technically customer can try to install these, but that would be invalidating the support and may have legal liabilities bound by the contract signed when adquiring the services and software licenses.

Main reason  is that we do know know what processes or modifications does these 3rd party application at our software and platforms.

At The terms of service there is a clause for tampering/modifying the provided software and that can be done at the customer risk with absolutely not support.

Its defined at our Terms of use for the SAAS and Hardware too: Installing third party software is considered a modification:

SAAS:

Hardware:
https://www.citrix.com/content/dam/citrix/en_us/documents/buy/enterprise-eula.pdf

Look for this section:

"You may not modify, translate, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, create derivative works based on or copy the PRODUCT, except as expressly licensed in this AGREEMENT or to the extent such foregoing restriction is expressly prohibited by applicable mandatory law."

So unless explicitely approved by Citrix legal team and engineer, no other software should be authorized.

Problem Cause

Customer willing to install 3rd party software at any of the Citrix products not authorized by Citrix explicitely.

Issue/Introduction

3rd party software exceptions.
