Users may be unable to use chosen keyboard type in an ICA session on a VDA build on Windows 10 v1809 or later

For example: The endpoint uses the 106 Japanese keyboard and current keyboard layout is Microsoft IME, but it is mapped to 101 keyboard in VDA after starting the session.”

Environment

Caution! Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that might require you to reinstall your operating system. Citrix cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. Be sure to back up the registry before you edit it.

Resolution

Set the following registry key after on VDA after VDA Install

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt\Parameters
OverrideKeyboardType
type: REG_DWORD
value: 0
 

Problem Cause

The keyboard type attributed requested from HDX endpoint will be disregarded when  OverrideKeyboardType is non-zero.
