Neuro Works is an application used by neurologists to view and playback studies of patient EEGs. When they open Neuro Works through Citrix, users can define speed and time-based settings to view these EEGs. When viewing, these EEGs scroll across the screen from left to right, and this "playback" may result in a low frame rate which can be experienced as choppiness or stuttering by the user.
Solution for Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 2303 and earlier:
Create the following registry key underneath HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Citrix\Graphics\
Name: GlyphCacheBehaviour
Type: DWORD
Value = 0
This registry value disables the glyph caching feature.
Solution for Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 2305 and later (including 2402 LTSR):
Improvements were made in Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 2305 that automatically turn off glyph caching in such use cases. As such, this registry value is not needed in Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 2305 or later.
EEG screen updates can be miscategorized as glyphs and result in poorer performance.
