Bidirectional Content Redirection does not work properly with Lingering Session

Repro Steps:

  1. Start Internet Explorer on your client machine
  2. Type an URL that match with "Allowed URLs to be redirected to VDA" to the address field
  3. The local browser is closed automatically when hitting the enter key
  4. The published application is started and the redirected URL is opened automatically
  5. Close the published application window
  6. Verify your ICA session on the Citrix Studio that Session State is displayed as "Active" and the Application State is "Lingering"
  7. Start local Internet Explorer on your client machine again
  8. Type an URL that match with "Allowed URLs to be redirected to VDA" to the address field
  9. The local browser is closed automatically when hit the enter key.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR: The published application is started and the redirected URL should be opened automatically.
ACTUAL BEHAVIOR: Although the published application is started on VDA, it is not displayed on the client.

 

Resolution

The issue will be resolved in future by implementing a product enhancement.
Product enhancement request has been filed as RFE ID-006609 for this issue.

Workaround:
  • Change Citrix Policy "Allow Bidirectional Content Redirection" to "Prohibited".
  • Change "Lingering Session for Applications" to end sessions immediately after all applications in the sessions are closed.

Problem Cause

This is a known issue which is not able to be resolved without changing protocol specification.
