Description

When we start the Target Device, we notice the following error on the device during boot process.
"No servers available for disk"

PVS1

PVS2

We also notice Database Access errors for certain functions on the Event Viewer of PVS Server.

PVS3

PVS4

Resolution

Once default permissions were added on SQL server's System Databases for the Service Account used to run PVS service, the database access error stopped logging in event logs and PVS target devices booted successfully.

Problem Cause

Access Restriction to PVS Service Account on the SQL System Databases.

The SQL DB Permissions for the PVS Service account were revoked on the SQL System Databases like Master Database for security hardening purpose by SQL and Security team.

Note:
Service users are the accounts under which the Stream and Soap services run on a Provisioning Services (PVS) server which needs both SQL database permissions and file permissions to access the Virtual Disk
