A workaround was to plug the SIM in a smartphone, enter the SIM PIN and disable PIN security in the settings. After removing the PIN security you can use it in the SD-WAN 210-LTE.
If you have a new mobile only you can use such SIM size adapters for the SD-WAN 210.

Additional troubleshooting steps if the data session is not connected. Go to
Configuration > Appliance Settings > Network Adapters > Mobile Broadband
- Card State: If it is present, it indicates that the SIM card is properly inserted.
- Status: Enabled means the modem tries to establish the data session.
- Signal Strength status could be: Excellent, Good, Fair, Poor or No Signal.
- Home Network: Carrier of the SIM card.
- APN: Name: APN used by the LTE modem.
- Session Rate: Connected indicates that the device has joined the network.
- Manage Firmware: The AUTO-SIM option allows the LTE modem to chose the most matching firmware based on the SIM Card inserted. Choose AUTO-SIM if you are unsure which firmware to use.
- You should consider rebooting the appliance as part of the troubleshooting process.
