Description
Users connecting to desktops and applications in a different time zone than the VDA require the time zone of the published resources to synchronize with the local time zone on the (Receiver) client.
Instructions
There are two items to configure:
- Grant “Everyone” the local machine User Right “Change the time zone”.
- Configure the Citrix Time Zone Control policy “Use local time of client” to the value “Use client time zone”.
Following is more information about these two items:
- Local Machine User Right “Change the time zone” can be configured on the master image or the vDisk, locally using SecPol or configured with an Active Directory distributed Group Policy.
- In Group Policy Management, the required User Right is found in the Computer Configuration ->Policies ->Windows Settings ->Security Settings ->User Rights Assignment ->Change the time zone. Add “Everyone”. Link the Group Policy to the OU containing the VDA’s.

or
- To configure locally on the VDA, master image, or vDisk, use SecPol.msc. Browse to Security Settings ->User Rights Assignment ->Change the time zone. Add “Everyone”.

- Citrix Time Zone Control policy can configured in Studio or in Group Policy Management console on the Delivery Controller.
- Edit an existing policy or create a new policy.
- Search for Time Zone Control.
- Select the “Use local time of client” policy.
- Edit the policy and change the value to “Use client time zone”.

Good to know:
- VDA’s that do not have ‘Everyone’ included in the “Change the time zone” policy may find that the client time zone will synchronize when using an Admin account to connect to the VDA.
- Using RDP to connect to a Desktop OS VDA will only show the VDA time zone. The ability to synchronize the client time zone on a remote session is a Citrix feature.
Issue/Introduction
This document details the basic configurations required to synchronize the time zone on XenDesktop published Desktops and Applications with the Receiver Client time zone. Applies to Desktop OS and Server VDI (/servervdi), published for applications, static desktops, and random desktops, provisioned by MCS, PVS, and non-power managed provisioning methods.
