Follow symptoms are observed:

1) Citrix Print Manager Service crash event is logged in the System event logs with Event ID 7031 and Source "Service Control Manager" with following description:

The "Citrix Print Manager Service" service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this (1..n) time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 0 milliseconds: Restart the service

2) Application event logs report crash of CpSvc.exe with:

Faulting application name: CpSvc.exe
Faulting module name: MSVCR120.dll
Exception code: 0xc0000417

3) If you check the following registry, you will find Illegal characters or Null entries:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\POlicies\Citrix\<User Session ID>\user\PrintingPolicies



Deleting the above entries doesn't fixes the issue.

The issue of Citrix Print Manager Service crash has been fixed in LC9796. However the cause of Illegal Characters and Null Entries in the SessionPrinters registry is still under investigation and will be fixed soon.

Problem Cause

Citrix Print Manager Service fails to process the Illegal characters and the null entries passed on from the Printer policies (HKLM\SOFTWARE\POlicies\Citrix\<User Session ID>\user\PrintingPolicies\SessionPrinters) during the printer enumeration process at the time of user logon.

Citrix Print Manager Service crashes intermittently with the Exception code "0xc0000417"
