Description

This article explains how to recreate a .pvp file for a PVS vDisk version in case that is deleted by accidentally.

Instructions

Before proceeding with the below steps, make sure to power off all the Target Devices streaming the vDisk in question and make sure that the vDisk does not have any connection from any Target Device. After all the Target Devices that were connected to the vDisk are powered off proceed with the following steps:

1. Right click on the vDisk in question and select the option Export vDisk...
2. Since there is one .pvp file missing you will get a message informing that the export may fail, but just click OK and continue.
3. After the vDisk is exported, an .xml file with the name of the vDisk should be created in the vDisk Store, make sure that the [vDiskName].xml file is created in the vDisk Store.
4. Then proceed to delete the vDisk from the PVS console only.
NOTE: When you see the message asking the confirmation to delete the vDisk, DO NOT enable the option "Delete the associated vDisk file(s)" and just click Yes.
5. Then, on the same PVS console, go to the Stores node and do right click on the Store where the vDisk should be added and select the option "Add or Import Existing vDisk ...".
6. In the next window click the Search button and you will see a warning message informing that the "Properties file is missing for [vDiskName]. It will be automatically created with the default values." Click OK and then click the Add button. Another message should be shown confirming that "One vDisk Added". Click OK again and Close.
7. At this point the vDisk should be re-imported and the .pvp file missing for the vDisk version should be created.
