Description
PVS targets using a vdisk that has the radio button set to MAK licensing will intermittently fail to reactivate after rebooting.
PVS CDF traces may also show an error that the device does not exist in the VAMT database.
"Device: 10.10.10.10 not found in Vamt database."
Resolution
PVS targets using vdisks that use MAK licensing need to make sure that the IP address they had when they were initially activated does not change when they reboot. This can be accomplished by either setting a DHCP reservation for that MAC address for that target or to use an unlimited DHCP lease.
Problem Cause
In order to activate a PVS target that is using a vdisk set to MAK licensing, the VAMT tool has to be installed on every PVS server in the farm. The VAMT tool then allows for the the PVS console to activate the PVS devices and store their activation in the VAMT database. If the target boots up with a different IP then the device will not be found in the VAMT database and it is unable to reactivate.
