Description

UPM roaming profiles "break" if enabling App Layering Elastic Layering feature. Can’t right click the start menu, can’t open programs, etc

Resolution

All known UPM compatibility problems have been resolved as of App Layering 4.12.  This includes Streaming Mode, and losing the Start Menu.  You may need to delete your existing UPM profile and start fresh, if it has already been damaged by a previous version of App Layering.

If you are going to use Full User Layers in App Layering and also use UPM, you should set UPM to not delete the profile on logout.

If you are having any compatibility problems with App Layering and UPM, please upgrade to 4.12.

NOTES:

For posterity, here is the previous content of this article.

Using Elastic Layering with UPM profiles streaming feature IS incompatible with Elastic Layers because the filter drivers compete with each other.

Disable the UPM streaming feature if you need to enable Elastic Layering. Otherwise, disable elastic layering if you want to use the UPM steaming feature.
