When configuring a Network File Share for the ELM in App Layering, you get the error "Permissions incorrect on the file share for the path: <File Share>. Please contact Support for more information."
There is no single solution. Generally you want to give the ELM as much permission as you can on the share. However, we can tell you exactly what the test involves:
1: Login to the SMB share as the specific user/password.
1a: We test SMB 3.02, then 3.0, 2.1, 2.0, and 1.0 in that order. The first SMB version that gives us a success is used. If none of the SMB versions works, then you will get a different error about the share being inaccessible.
2. Create a folder under \\Server\ShareName called Test-<GUID>. The GUID is randomly generated each time. Delete the folder.
3. Create a file under \\Server\ShareName called Test-<GUID>. The GUID is randomly generated each time. Delete the file.
That's it. If you get an error on any of these steps, we will inform you that you do not have sufficient permissions. You should login to a Windows machine as the exact same user and perform the same steps manually to verify that the problem is not specific to the ELM, and then get the operations to work properly in Windows. Once you can create a folder and a file from Windows, then test with the ELM again.
Azure Files Note:
Domain / Azure AD accounts are not supported on the ELM. To use Azure Files as your SMB host, please use the name and key of the Azure storage account, that contains the Azure Files share, as the user name and password.
