Resolution

  • Make sure the Xen Server is accessible from the SVM, i.e able to reach the platform and not getting error "SESSION_AUTHENTICATION_FAILED" on SVM gui
  • Restart xapi tooloolstack by using the command on SDX XenServer console: xe-toolstack-restart
After restarting the xapi toolstack the SVM should be able to read the platform's version, if not exactly the version ex, 6.1, it will give 0 for the version.

The upgrade will execute successfully after restarting the xapi toolstack.

Problem Cause

 The fetch for the software version is failing during the upgrade process.
