PVS XDSW, Error: "(vsan) cannot complete file creation operation"

Description
Symptoms:
- PVS console returns the error "(vsan) cannot complete file creation operation".
- CDF traces show exception "CreateWriteCacheDisk failed to CreateBlankVHD : Citrix.Xip.XipException: A general system error occurred: PBM error occurred during PreProcessReconfigureSpec: pbm.fault.PBMFault;Error when trying to run pre-provision validation" during ESX task ReconfigVM
Error Conditions:
- PVS targets deployed through the XenDesktop Setup Wizard utilizing BDM partition.
- VMWare VSAN 6.0 or higher is in use as the storage configuration for the host.
Resolution
Citrix is aware of this limitation with PVS and VMware VSAN storage and is currently investigating the issue. Presently, if VSAN storage is in use, the workaround is to utilize a boot method other than BDM partition for PVS targets.
Issue/Introduction
Attempts to create PVS targets utilizing BDM partition through the XDSW will fail when integrating with VSAN storage.
