Description

Let us take an example when the Netscaler VIP is needed to be accessed by both the Same Subnet and Different Subnet from either other Netscaler SNIP or from the Host Machine.

Example Diagram:
Netscaler A SNIP----VLAN10----L2-Switch------VLAN10---------Netscaler B VIP && Netscaler B SNIP
10.1.1.3/28                                                                                   10.1.1.10/32             10.1.1.1/29

Now Looking on the above Diagram it seems to be that Netscaler A SNIP and Netscaler B VIP are both the in the same subnet, however it is still not pingable or ARP response is not seen from the Netscaler B VIP

Instructions

Troubleshooting:
  •  Check the VLAN ID bindings on the Netscaler B. The above scenario will not work if the IP bindings with the subnet mask 10.1.1.1/29 is bound to it.
Solution:
  • There are majorly two options to make the scenario work pinging from Netscaler A SNIP to Netscaler B VIP:
  1. Under VLAN Binding, either bind only the interface connected to switch with Vlan ID 10 as per the above example.
  2. To make it more specific, bind the IP bindings, with the larger subnet so that there would be successful reply to the request made.
