Description

To provide Citrix customers and users a process to define page file size and location when using Citrix App Layering.

Instructions

The idea here is to configure the registry so that it will create a specified size page file and place it on the D: drive often with the PVS Cache Disk when the desktops or XenApp hosts boot.  The process we follow here is to set up the registry appropriately.  App Layering will not add a disk to PVS targets or MCS machines.  You must add the disk using a method supported by PVS, MCS or VMware Horizon View.
  1. Create a new application layer
  2. When the Packaging Machine fully boots up, shut it down
  3. Add a disk at least large enough to hold your page file
  4. Boot the packaging machine
  5. Open Disk Manager and configure the new disk as the desired drive, normally D:
  6. Open Advanced System Properties>Performance>Advanced
  7. Change Virtual Memory to the desired setting.  Initial and Maximum size should be the same.  Remember to remove the C Drive entry.
Virtual Memory
  1. Reboot the Packaging Machine
  2. Shutdown for Finalize
  3. After the VM shuts down, remove the extra disk you added.
  4. In the App Layering Console finalize the layer.
  5. Include the layer in your image template.
