NetScaler SD-WAN 410-SE stuck in rescue mode when it is factory reset using NMI reset button. User does not see the outputs mentioned in the reset Citrix Documentation.

You will then see the Choose Box ID option:

Resolution

You should complete the following procedure to resolve this issue, otherwise the system will remain in hung state unless the device is manually rebooted or NMI button process is started again.

  1. Choose Box 1 and press OK:

  2. In the next window, choose 48 hours and press OK:

  3. The Box 1 48 Hours test starts the script for testing. Manually press "Ctrl+C" within 3 seconds of the last step to break the test script and reboot the appliance using the "reboot" command:

If you take longer to break the script (using 'CTRL+C') and reboot the appliance, you will have to start from step 1 again.

After step 3 is performed successfully, the device will reboot and the reset procedure will start normally and you will get the console outputs mentioned in the reset Citrix Documentation.


Problem Cause

When using NMI reset button method, the recovery image from eUSB (sdb) used for re-programming SATADOM (sda), sometimes deviates from its actual path and lands in BOX1 and Box 2 Mfg 48 hrs testing. This now requires manual interruptions to break the chain and complete the process.
