Description

The Microsoft App-V SDK/API that the Citrix App-V integration components interacts with requires some API calls be made as an administrator.  As a result, our CtxAppVCOMAdmin account is created and added to the local administrators group on the VDA during install.   

This account is used by the VirtAppCOMServer on the VDA to perform the following tasks: 

  • Adds packages already in the windows\temp\citrixappvpackagecache folder to the App-V subsystem (%programdata%\appv folder) on the VDA.
  • Creates any isolation groups required.
  • Un-publishes or removes applications as necessary.
  • Adds the publishing server URL referenced in Studio to VDA’s App-V subsystem
If security practices or policies will not allow the CtxAppVCOMAdmin account to be added to the local administrators group on the VDA, the following steps can be followed to reference an alternate account to carry out Citrix App-V integration tasks.

Instructions

  1. Launch dcomcnfg.exe
  2. Expand Component Services --> Computers --> My Computer --> DCOM Config
  3. Locate the component named Citrix.VirtApp.Vda.Com.AppVObject
           

    4. Right-click the object and select Properties
    5. Select the Identity tab and input the alternate account information
