Description

Configure Citrix Policies, Topaz device for use in VDA sessions.

Instructions

Client Configuration

Connecting the Topaz device the client.  And device uses the Windows inbox driver *Driver Provider* is *FTDI* this is Windows in-box *Driver Date:* 9/28/2016*

On the client computer- the device appears in Device manager under *Universal Serial Bus Controllers* > *USB Serial Converter* and *Ports (COM & LPT)* > *USB Serial Port (COM9)*

Next modify the Registry setting on the client computer.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Citrix\ICA Client\GenericUSB
Name: DeviceRules, REG_MULTI_SZ, Modify the existing data by adding entry at top of list in Data:
ALLOW:vid=0403 pid=6001 # Topaz signature

Configure Citrix Policies

Create 2 policies with multiple settings.

1. Create a new Citrix Policy named *Usb Redirection* and add these specific policies:
*Client USB device redirection* set to *Allowed* default
*Client USB device redirection rules* set to value *Allow: VID=0403 PID=6001 # Topaz*

2. Next add Citrix Policy named *Com port redirection* and set:
*Auto connect client COM ports* to *Enabled*
*Client COM port redirection* to *Allowed*

Testing at this point

On VDA launch, the device is listed as:  *FTDI FT232R USB UART*

And from *Desktop Viewer* *Device* tab the device is listed and can be redirected as:
*FTDI FT232R USB UART*
*Generic*
*Redirect* is enabled and can be checked.

But checking the Device manager list the *FT232R USB UART* is listed under *Other devices* and there is a yellow warning indicating that *drivers for the device are not installed*

Installing the SigPlus software

from: http://www.topazsystems.com/Software/sigplus.exe

After installing SigPlus, using… http://www.topazsystems.com/Software/sigplus.exe
Open Device Manager - in *Ports (COM & LPT) note *USB Serial Port (COM9)* is now listed.
Select *Drivers* tab and note…
>Driver Provider: FTDI
>Driver Date: 9/28/2016

And using the Signature pad worked in the VDA session.

NOTE:

CCM channel (modern COM port redirection channel) does not provide for dynamic rediscovery of ports. Ports are only enumerated at client launch/session start.

This is expected behavior. Connecting com port device (like Topaz USB which redirects as com port) after ICA session start is not supported -and- smooth roaming from client device w/o Topaz device to a client device w/ Topaz device is also restricted support.
