XenDesktop policies can be filtered based on Delivery Group type and allow five options:

  1. None
  2. Private Desktop (Tied to one user or device. Desktop groups with a desktop kind of Private cannot be used to deliver both desktops and applications)
  3. Shared Desktop (Available to multiple users or devices)
  4. Private Application
  5. Shared Application
XenApp/XenDesktop 7.x has only two types of desktops - Shared or Private. As the filter description says 'apply policy based on the type of desktop running the session' -  The types 'shared application' and 'private application' apply only to XenDesktop 5.x desktop groups.
