Description

Under certain circumstances, users may find that some Windows Explorer settings are not retained after closing a published Windows Explorer session.

These settings are saved in the registry under

  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Wow6432Node\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Wow6432Node\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\BagMRU

Resolution

Specifically add AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\UsrClass.* to “Files to Synchronize” in the Profile Management policy.
The AppData\Local folder will still be excluded from Synchronization, but this specific file will be managed by UPM

Problem Cause

These settings are stored in the UsrClass.dat file. This originally was not synchronised when AppData\Local is in the “Exclusion List – Directories”.
