Description

How to overcome the error  "MaxAAAUsers value not allowed by license" and apply the universal license.

Instructions

Firstly check the license.log file on NetScaler to make sure that the license files have been properly picked.
You will notice entries in the license.log like:
License file picked by device from license.log: /nsconfig/license/FID_XXXXXXXXXXXXXX.lic
Users of CAG_ICA_CCU:  (Total of 500 licenses issued;  Total of 0 licenses in use)

In the above snipped FID_XXXXXXXXXXXXXX.lic is universal license apart from the platform license that each NS has.

We normally need to execute the command "set AAA parameter MaxAAAUsers X" to increase the concurrent user limit on NSG. When executing this command if you notice error then open the license file and view it's contents.

You will notice entry in the following format: INCREMENT CAG_ICA_CCU CITRIX 2015.0328 permanent 500
In this the time stamp 2015.0328 shows that the subscription advantage in this case has expired on 28th March 2015. Make sure that this time stamp covers the firmware release date.

For example if the firmware 11.0 55.23 F was releases on 20th July 2015 and if this time stamp in license file is set to 1st August 2015 then you will be able to use the universal license file on the 11.0 55.23 firmware release. If that time stamp in the license file was set to 20th June 2015 then we will not be able to use the universal license on the build 11.0 55.23F.

In case if customer cannot purchase the SA immediately and they have some production impact, you can suggest customer to roll back to earlier firmware's which came out before the expiry of SA.
