Description

Attempts to add a second delivery controller to a XenApp/XenDesktop 7.6 site may result in the following error:

"Not all Delivery Controllers in the Site are the same version. All Controllers in the Site must be upgraded to the same version before another Controller can be added."

Resolution

  1. On the existing Delivery Controller, check for alternate DNS suffixes by using the 'ipconfig /all' command and ensure that all possible FQDNs are resolvable through DNS.

  2. If the Delivery Controller's hostname is not resolvable with any alternate DNS suffix,  either add the required FQDN to the HOSTS file or create a new 'A' record in the corresponding DNS zone.

    • Refer to Microsoft documentation for assistance with editing the HOSTS file or DNS zones.

  3. Verify that you are now able to resolve all possible FQDNs for the existing Delivery Controller.

Problem Cause

This problem can occur when the FMA services register with an alternate FQDN which is not resolvable.
