Description

When running "show ha node" command on NetScaler, it is noticed that for one of the nodes the "Node status" shows as "Not UP" as shown below:

User-added image

Due to this issue the NetScaler will not successfully failover to the other node.

Resolution

Verify if any of the interfaces that are ENABLED with HAMON are not showing DOWN. If any of the interfaces with HAMON enabled shows DOWN then this behavior can be noticed.

The following is an examples where LA/1 channel was DOWN on VPX and we could see the node status on that VPX as "Not UP". Interface status shows UP but LA Channel status is showing DOWN.

User-added image

Once the LA Channel shows UP on VPX, the Node status will show the status as "UP". So look for any interfaces with HAMON enabled on DOWN state and bring them to UP state or disable HAMON on the interfaces which are DOWN and has HAMON enabled.

You can also examine the SSL Card status in "show ha node" command and confirm if it is in UP or DOWN state. The state of the SSL Card can also lead to this behavior.

Problem Cause

The issue is caused due to Enabled interface with HAMON in DOWN state.
