Description
When creating or updating MCS catalog the following error is generated no matter how long the timeout is set for. Issue has been majorly seen with VMware.
DesktopStudio_ErrorId : UnknownError
ErrorCategory : NotSpecified
ErrorID : ImagePreparationFinalizationFailedCompletely
TaskErrorInformation : Terminated
InternalErrorMessage : No Image Preparation results found, suggesting no suitable VDA or other serious failure in the Master VM. Image preparation failed
DesktopStudio_PowerShellHistory : Create Machine Catalog 'Testing Catalog Creation'
Resolution
To fix this issue, manually add a disk to the Master VM:
- Shutdown the Master VM.
- From Edit Settings, attach a Hard disk to the VM.
- Select an Identity Disk from another VM.
- Finish the wizard.
- Start up the Master VM and log on.
- Launch Disk Management to check that the new disk was recognized by the OS.
- Once the driver is installed, remove the added disk from Master VM.
- Shut down the Master VM.
- From Edit Settings, remove the added hard disk.
- Re-image using the Master VM.
- Use MCS to provision using the updated Master VM.
Problem Cause
One of the cause can be that the disk is not being detected in the early boot phase, because the system was missing the driver it needed to access identity disk.
