To find a way to force Citrix Receiver to launch a specific VDA rather than just being allocated the next available one.

Though this is not possible to achieve this form the receiver side, but there are some ways by which we can achieve this from the DDC:

1. Pull the server out of the Delivery Group Create a new Delivery Group for testing and add that server Assign testing user to the Delivery group. Test launching the application/desktop. Once tested, we can put the machine back to it’s original Delivery Group and delete the testing Delivery group

2. Put all the machines but 'the one we need to test' in maintenance mode and the try launching a new application/ desktop session to verify Once tested, pull all the machines out of maintenance mode.

Note - Maintenance mode on a VDA machine will not disturb the ongoing user sessions, but will not allow new connections to be brokered to it.

 

There are situations when you want to connect to a single VDA like for testing purposes. This article describes possible ways to achieve this.
