Description

This article describes how to collect logs from Xen Desktop Linux VDA using a bash script called xdlcollect.
Xdlcollect needs to be ran as root directly on the Linux VDA and will create a .tar.bz2 file that can be easily uploaded by customers on Citrix Insight Services website (cis.citrix.com).

Collected logs:

  • Generic system details:
    • Linux distribution release version
    • Memory and CPU usage
    • Running processes
    • lspci and lsusb details
    • Services
    • Installed RPM packages
    • System messages (/var/log/messages – dmesg)
    • Boot log
  • Network configuration details:
    • Hostname
    • Routes
    • DNS servers
    • Firewall configuration
    • Netstat
  • Active Directory join details:
    • Samba logs
    • Kerberos logs
    • Output of “net ads” , “webinfo” and klist
  • Linux VDA logs and registry

Some basic tests are also ran to check connectivity to:
  • Active Directory Domain Controllers
  • DNS severs
  • XenDesktop DDCs
