Description

Clicking File Type Association (FTA) in application settings results in error-"Unknown error occurred".

Environment

Caution! Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that might require you to reinstall your operating system. Citrix cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. Be sure to back up the registry before you edit it.

Resolution

  1. On the VDA go to Start -> Run
  2. Type regedit and click on ok.
  3. Go to the following registry key.
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\<application name>\Shell\open\rundll32.exe "<path of the dll>",mureg %1
  4. Add ".exe" to rundll32 in the related Application hive:

Problem Cause

Application references rundll32.exe as rundll32, causing the FTA to fail.
